CHESTERFIELD CAN ADD TWO TRACK PARTICIPANTS AND/OR TWO SWIMMERS TO ITS DELEGATION UNTIL REGISTRATION CLOSES FOR THE ICG THE END OF MARCH 2012! STUDENTS HAVE AN OLYMPIC EXPERIENCE THROUGH COMPETING INTERNATIONALLY IN THEIR SPORT AT THE INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S GAMES.

Congratulations Team Chesterfield members for bringing home 8 medals FROM THE 2011 WINTER INTERNATIONAL CHILDREN’S GAMES!!! Thomas Hong won bronze medals in both the 500m and 1500m short track speed skating events. Thomas Hong and Jonathan Heo won a silver medal for their 3000m relay and Stella Yi won a gold medal in her 1500m speed skating relay!!! Team Chesterfield’s curling team composed of Patrick Sanders, Cole Wells, and Alec Cole won a bronze medal as well and won the hearts of our Canadian hosts.

Slovenian professor Metod Klemenc to promote peace and friendship through sports. In the inaugural games, nine European cities met for a one-day competition and cultural exchange. From these humble beginnings, the International Children’s Games has grown into a global competition and cultural festival with participation from 2,000-3,000 athletes and coaches and 50 -100 cities each year. Today, the International Children’s Games is the largest multi-sport international youth games and is a recognized member of the International Olympic Committee.
